The Ranch is located on the Thompson River, just 5 miles north of where it meets the Grand River. Our location is north of the famous "Golden Triangle", which we feel this gives us the advantage of getting the birds first. This farm is a natural wetland, once taken out and tried to farm, but  was too wet. It was then put in to the WRP program, meaning this is a location that ducks have gone to for hundreds of years.

Our priority is to try and make the most ideal location for ducks.. What is that? Water, Food, and Security/ Safety. We have water. We have food from planting crops and managing the moist soil areas. Lastly, safety is making sure the right kind of vegetation is available. Sounds simple until you factor in mother nature, families, and work.

This is done by moist soil management...

What is moist soil Management? Simply put, we draw down the water at the right times, disk when needed, then we put water back on the land. Ducks eat more then just corn; they will also eat invertebrates, small seeds, acorns, and many other things. These are the foods that are in our properly managed, moist soil.
